How to Plan a Staycation

Staycation is becoming the norm for those wanting to kick back and rejuvenate while skipping the stress of booking flights, planning an elaborate itinerary, and evading unwanted infections. Offering the best of both worlds, DFW staycations are an ideal getaway without really getting away.

A staycation allows you to break away from your monotonous routine, save a whole lot of moolah, and learn more about your city all at once! Here is an all-you-need guide to planning the perfect staycation.

Block the Dates

Staycations need as much planning as a full-blown vacation. To disallow your staycation plan from fizzling out before it sees the light of the day, you need to devote hours to plan it and equal, if not more, hours to execute it. Scheduling some time off your calendar is a crucial step here. Grab your calendar and mark those dates off as unavailable. Work, clients, meetings, appointments, and errands, all must be blocked off from your calendar during the entirety of your DFW staycation. For your staycation to be as close to a vacation as possible, avoid making any commitment that will cut into your perfect staycation weekend. Set the date, block off your schedule, and get planning.

Set Your Budget

A staycation is a low budget, not no budget! Many people mistake a staycation for being a free getaway. Do not fall into this trap. Deciding a budget for your staycation is a crucial step, for an exorbitant staycation may cost just as much as hopping on a plane. Depending on the number of days you plan to go on a DFW staycation, your budget may vary. Keeping in mind that most staycations range from 1-3 days and the potential activities you may want to indulge in, set a reasonable budget. Whether you are staying in-home or in a rental, a realistic amount is what will pave the way for a seamless staycation. Deciding this amount also helps with planning and setting a baseline for future staycations.

Sketch an Itinerary

When you sit down to list the number of things that you can explore in your very own backyard, you will be both surprised and worried. Surprised with the hitherto unknown gems that you just discovered and worried about the careful planning that you will need to visit or experience them all. Decide what type of staycation you want, research about the getaways in and around.

If you are in need of care, sleep in late, have a slow day, and head to a spa near you. You can also treat yourself to a peaceful hotel stay, yoga retreat, or a relaxing facial. If you are a museum lover, look for new pop-ups, installations, or exhibits in the city. Explorative gastronomes can opt for a winery tour, stopping for great eats along the way.

Staycations are an ideal way to rediscover interesting parts of your city and nearby attractions. Treat your staycation like any other vacation and prepare an elaborate itinerary. Online resources like Yelp, Groupon, Viator, Living Social, musement, Tripadvisor, or even official websites of cities and towns are great starting points to kick start your exciting staycation.

Choose between Home or Rental

The beauty of a DFW staycation is that you can set on one within the confines of your own home. For those yearning for a truly unique experience, a rental serves as the best alternative. Stay home and order take-out, grill, cook, or, do a movie night. You can also schedule an at-home beauty appointment or massage. Booking a rental elevates your staycation making it easier to get you into the relaxed moods of a vacation. With just a little digging, you will uncover campsites or refreshing hotels that offer tempting staycation deals.

With this start-to-begin staycation plan, you are in for an unforgettable DFW staycation.
